Ode To Brenda
So this is pretty much my first attempt at a limerick. It seemed to be challenging in coming up with words that rhymed with Wimer. Thus, the slight deviation. Aunt Brenda hit the timing right with these cookies! I was stopping at grandma's house to run errands before my journey back to Morgantown. It's hard to find a better breakfast than this. And the Thinking of You came at just the right time.

I once tasted chocolate chip cookies made by Momma Wimer
I thought nothing could ever taste finer
But then Brenda my aunt
Made me recant
With Molasses Crinkles that made others seem minor

Take the Cookie Trivia Challenge:
1. From which language does the word cookie originate?
2. In what year were the first chocolate chip cookies invented?
3. Which famous baker, for whom Jess is nicknamed, made the chocolate chip cookie become known nationally when she used it in her radio series "Famous Foods From Famous Eating Places."
4. What three types of Girl Scout cookies are required to be unchanged every year? (supplemented by other kinds that vary)
5. In what state was the sugar cookie first perfected and shaped as its symbol?

Answers to cookie trivia challenge... obtained from several internet sources of which the exactness I forget...

1. From Dutch koekje, meaning "small or little cake
2. In 1937 by Ruth Graves Wakefield (1905-1977), of Whitman, Massachusetts, who ran the Toll House Restaurant
3. Yes, Betty Crocker!
4. Girl Scout cookies are made by large national commercial bakeries under license from Girl Scouts of the USA. The bakers that the organization licenses change from year to year; as of 2005 they are ABC/Interbake Foods and Little Brownie Bakers. Licensed bakers can offer up to eight varieties of Girl Scout cookies. The national Girl Scout organization reviews and approves all varieties proposed by the bakers, but requires only three types: Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Sandwich/Do-si-dos and Shortbread/Trefoils. The other kinds can be changed every year. Each bakery names its own cookies. Thus the exact kinds, names, and composion of the cookies varies.
5. The sugar cookie was first perfected by the Moravians, Protestant settlers from Germany who made Nazareth their home during the mid-1700s. The Nazareth area of Pennsylvania has provided much of the stimulus for the founding, settlement and growth of the commonwealth. The sturdy sugar cookie is baked in the shape of a Keystone, the state’s symbol.
